Things to note:
I would highly recommend hiding an Apple airtag in your case, even if you have to buy a cheap ipad to activate/use them
Airtags significantly improve your chances of finding your case if it goes missing
They can easily be hidden inside the pull out handles of all roller cases
Remove screws on bottom of case to remove handle, wrap airtag in saran wrap (so it doesn't stick to duct tape), then duct tape it into hollow section at bottom of handle
Cases with a sum of side length >62" can be considered oversized and charged accordingly. However, as long as a case is not significantly over this gate agents will normally let it through as a regular bag
Weight is the primary concern with pelicans
When flying, any checked case over 50lbs will be charged as oversize, regardless of dimensions
In the US carry-ons are sized by dimensions. In Europe they are sized by weight (can typically be 10 kg or 22 lbs max)
The Pelican Air line of cases are not quite as durable as the Protector cases but they are still very tough and are a fraction of the weight
I strongly recommend that you purchase an Air case instead of a Protector case if you plan on flying
Lid organizers that screw into the inside of the lid for most Pelican Air case models can be purchased at https://www.colorcase.com

Recommended cases to consider:
Pelican Air 1535, weight: 8.7 lbs
Largest carry-on size Pelican case
Pelican Air 1615, weight: 14.1 lbs
Most popular checked bag size Pelican case; is wide and shallow which is best for organization
9.4" depth is limiting factor for carrying fursuits; it is too shallow for most fursuit heads
Pelican Air 1637, weight: 15.2 lbs
Most popular Pelican case for flying with fursuits
Largest Pelican case (by volume) that is guaranteed to not be charged as oversize
1637 lid organizer (installs with velcro instead of screws)
Pelican Air 1646, weight: 20.5 lbs
Is 7" over max regular checked bag dimensions but is close enough that it is usually not charged as oversize
Largest case I would recommend. Very large case, large enough to store almost any fursuit even if heavily paddedÂ
